Ramadan wishes

Ramadan Greetings

Today is the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

This is the most sacred month in Islam and I am told it is regarded as holy because the Qur’an was first revealed during this month.

This is the time when Muslims fast during the daylight hours for a whole month, exercise restraint, control their emotions, try to give up bad habits, seek forgiveness for past mistakes and show charity.

In essence, it is all about worship, comtemplation and the strengthening family and community ties. These are traits which their non-Muslim brethen share with them.

To all my Muslim friends in Malaysia – especially Abu Huraira, Abdullah Sani, Mohd Bakke and Mohd Zamil from my old school days, Abdul Razak of Smart Modular Technologies, Johari and Azhar of Rockwills, Hamid Majid and Ibrahim Bakar of the Malaysian Chess Federation – I wish you Selamat Berbuka Puasa.
