Salary search

Most times after a successful job interview, you are hard put to propose a reasonable salary to the employer. If you ask too much, you may be pricing yourself out of the competition while if you ask too low, you may not be doing justice to yourself.

What then should you do? What is competitive and what is not? Who can you ask about how much a certain job is worth? Where can you go to get the information you require?

It’s hardly a secret at all but one of the most popular features on JobStreet.com is the free salary search that’s available to online visitors to the Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines JobStreet sites.

If you do ever need an indication of what people working in various industries and in various positions are getting as their salaries in these countries, all you ever need to do is to look for the link that says Salary Search.

What JobStreet.com has done is to take a view of the monthly salaries from their wide membership base. As this sampling does not include the bonuses or other compensations paid, you can get a pretty good idea of what people are being paid monthly in this region.

In order to get the salary search results, all you need to do is to type in the position title, for example, Accounting Manager or Marketing Executive or Technical Support Engineer. In case you are at a loss to describe the position you need, you can always choose from a list of typical position titles that are displayed on the page.

The search results are displayed according to position levels. For each level that’s available, you’ll also be shown the possible mininum, average and maximum salaries paid to them. And as a bonus, JobStreet also provide a link at the end of the page so that you can surf immediately to the job listings for the position title you’ve just looked for.
