Wrapping up the interview

Going for an interview? Everyone goes for job interviews at one time or another in their lives. But after all the talk and discussions between you and the interviewer, how can you wrap it up? Sure, a polite Thank You and a quick exit through the door is what many people do, but there are more things you can do to end the interview session. Here are two tips to help you wrap it up:

  • At the end of an interview, it is important to summarise what have been covered to make sure nothing is forgotten or misunderstood. When the interviewer asks if you have any other questions, don’t forget to respond in kind and ask if he has any further questions for you.
  • Always thank the interviewer for his time and ask for his business card. It will ensure that you spell his name and title correctly in your Thank You letter. It also gives you the necessary information for future correspondence and other useful information. If you have a business card, give one to the interviewer. This way, he is more likely to remember you and can contact you right away without having to plow through a stack of resumes.
